Another wonderful Friday writing session! Thank you so much Rebecca, Sharon, Beth, and my children for joining me. I hope you enjoyed writing about your celebration(s) for the week!
I had the opportunity to join an amazing eight week poetry class taught by
, a brilliant poet and teacher. One of her invitations for us was to write a poem as a gift. The poem below was inspired by her prompt.A Gift (for Carrie-Anne) You can do hard things— read the front of the magenta card. I prayed this was true as I faced a challenge no one wants to. Packages filled the mailbox— Otrio and Jenga games came with open arms. You seemed to know just when this mama was running low. Chocolate-covered fruit our taste buds come alive. They’ve seemed absent during this time. Thank you. I’ve said it many times— yet it doesn’t seem enough. Cards and encouraging verses to know we’re not alone. Music to lift my mood, your stories to fill my soul. Anything to bring a burst of laughter to the room. It’s you. Thank you for sticking by me in this season of trial and mess. It wasn’t scary for you— Yet I confess… You showed up with your family, just in time. Your visit rejuvenated my bones. Long-distance hugs and ice cream are better in person, not alone. All I can say is thank you. Thank you for being you My gift of 2022.
Friday writing group will start back up in the New Year! I look forward to writing with you in 2023. YIPPEE!
Such an amazing poem, Julie! Thank you for another great writing session on Friday - I really enjoyed it. You've been so generous with giving your time and Zoom space for others to write, and I deeply appreciate it. Have a wonderful break, and I'll see you in 2023!
