             A Mom's Great Plan 

Let’s get ready for school
the mom calls. 
Groans and grumbles echo
through the walls.
It’s time to go. 
They move in a crawl.  

“I want to live in the jungle!”
He says with a shout. 
“I don’t want to learn anymore.” 
She announces with a pout. 
“We don’t want to go.” 
The mom turns up her snout. 

Okay. Let’s get to work then. 
You can stay home and do chores.  
Someone can vacuum all the rooms.
Put away the clothes in your drawers.
Don’t forget to take out the trash.
Oh! And mop the floors.

The children grab their backpacks
In horror, shock.  
“We changed our minds, mom.” 
as they look at the clock. 
“We better get going, don’t want to be late.” 
The mom smiles, her plan worked great.
