Continuation from last Wednesday’s Post:
I loved the conversation Brindsley shared with me after the race.
“Hey Mom, there was an angel behind me helping me in the race.” Brindsley’s smile was as wide as the sky.
“Oh really! That’s awesome buddy, tell me all about it.”
“I was running behind some adults and I didn’t know how to get around them. I heard someone from behind me say, just squeeze between them and find a gap. It was like she read my mind, it was my angel mom!”
“Oh cool, Brindsley! Angels are running with us, I’m so glad she helped you.”
My heart was full, another win for the week. Not only did my children have fun and finish the race, but they witnessed angels—they were gaining evidence that they were never alone. There is kindness and good all around. Which we all needed right now.

When we arrived home a van pulled into our driveway a few minutes later. It was my friend and her family that I planned on calling. They dropped off a gift basket that Delaney won in the raffle at the race. God’s timing is always right. I could now tell her in person. Her children came in to use the bathroom and Jenny asked with concerned eyes, “Is Jeff sick?”
How did she know?
Jeff still was very thin and had no facial hair but he had a hat on. We stood outside and I shared with her what was going on. She hugged me and said she would lift our family in prayer. Jeff was sharing the news with her husband at the same time.
Before they left, we gathered in our driveway and held hands. Their children waited patiently in the car. We bowed our heads and closed our eyes as Dan lifted us in prayer. Jenny and Dan’s kindness, faith, trust, and love will never be forgotten. I was thankful Delaney entered the raffle and she won.
I realized how much movement helped me during Jeff’s health challenge. So I decided to share some of my favorite movements, one at the end of each chapter.
I’ve created a YouTube channel to have a home for all these movements called— It’s Your Move. You will have access to them all once A REAL BALLBUSTER: Untangling Testicular Cancer Together is published.
Feel free to subscribe and share with a friend.
Here is a go at one below. My Valentine’s gift to you…movement. :)
Warm, woolen socks on a glossy floor,
One foot held up in the air,
Smile suggests she could go on for hours,
Cleared for take off.
Angels are among us.
So cool to know it.
So cool when your children know it!!
