I was running slow this weekend. A few steps behind Felicia, my Saturday running buddy. I apologized as I pushed to catch up to her. I don’t know why but I just didn’t have the energy to stay up with her during some parts of the run. She was not worried or bothered one bit. She kept right on talking to me and kept her pace. She was okay and reminded me to enjoy the run at my pace.
She looked back at me and said, "today's run is about conversation, movement, and being in nature, that's it."
I was happy and thankful to hear those words. I relaxed. The tension in my face and shoulders released. It’s so wonderful to have a running buddy, especially during life's challenges or troubles. I didn't want to get out of bed to run but I'm so glad I did. We saw the most amazing sunrise, bluebirds, and a cardinal.
It was a great run.
May you find moments today to release and let go.
