DOG RUNNER

One tongue hanging out 
Loving the smells with his snout
Ears pointed high 
Taking in the sounds 
Eyes sharp and alert
SQUIRREL—
Nature all around 
Rolling in the grass 
Playing in the puddles
Mindful of the moment 
The smell of earth fills my nostrils 
Breathe in deep, one grateful grin
Happy dog runner once again
