The longer I wait to step out into nature the more restless I become. I’ve noticed this about myself. It’s why most mornings I’m up early. I crave the morning darkness. The cold crisp air gives me energy. I feel like I can breathe.
I’ve learned getting outside first thing in the morning calms me, brings me peace. I have more clarity to start my day and my anxiety doesn’t show up. This is how I cultivate peace of mind.
Today’s morning run I caught three pairs of eyes staring at me. Three deer were to my left, in a neighbors yard. They stood in silence watching me as I ran past. Their slender legs were ready to run with any hint of danger. I ran past grateful for their presence and peace.
What will you do today to cultivate peace of mind?
Poem of the Day:
Nature of a Deer
Three deer marble eyes Catch sight, eyes meet in darkness Silent morning run Calm, peace fills my breath The haste, bustle leads to stress Live a peaceful life Personality I relate more to a deer Modest, timid, shy
