The poem of the day is my first attempt at writing using the ghazal form. A ghazal poem has at least five couplets in similar length using rhyming and repetition. I bolded the words in each couplet where the rhyme is supposed to be. The repeated refrain I used is run. Finally, the first line of the last couplet contains a reference to the poet, by name or by first (I, me) or third person (she, her) pronouns.
What is your favorite couplet?
Would love to know in the comments below.
Poem of the day:
Ghazal Poem: Run
The road and a pair of sneakers is it, run
Step out into the cold crisp air commit- run
The ground beneath, the sky above wide-open
Space to swing arms, pump legs no time to sit run
The longer the distance the more connected
The mind, body, and heart show up don’t quit, run
The runner enjoys the solitude, calm, peace
Miles of road stretched out ahead builds grit run
The road I love no matter the weather, and
I thank God for this gift, it keeps me fit run.
