When my husband Jeff was diagnosed with cancer this year the song God, Turn it Around by Jon Reddick, was one I listened to every day.
It gave me peace when anxiety wanted to take over.
Today’s poem is inspired by this song.
God, Turn it Around This can’t be true— cancer. No, they said it wouldn’t come back. Heartsick, tears stream. My children in the backseat on the way to school. How do I tell them? God, turn it around. Four rounds of chemo— is the plan. He lies on the couch day after day, exhausted—lagging. My children are sad and upset their Dad can’t play. God, turn it around. An army of support from around the world, praying a breakthrough will come. God, do something— I plead. Don’t allow me to raise our children alone. Please, God, turn it around. Hope and joy in a season of challenge. It is possible— He changes everything. He is healing Jeff—one day at a time. A breakthrough has come. God is turning it around.
I love that song- for so many reasons. Thanks for the reminder
So beautiful, Julie. Sending strength to you all.
