Goodbye is hard

              A Gift in Goodbye 

I fasten my seat belt
Eyes glance at the dash
—tank full of gas 
Oh generous Jon and Kristen
their kindness, their love I feel 
I miss them already 
memories we will cherish 

I walk across the lawn 
clumps of grass
scattered here and there
I laugh 
Oh sweet Davis
His grin, his joy I see
I miss him already 
memories we will cherish  

I stand in my bedroom   
Lego designs cover the 
the window sill 
Oh clever Hillis
His encouragement, his singing I hear
I miss him already
memories we will cherish

Goodbye is hard— 
Yet we are grateful  
We are  blessed 
to have a family 
to miss.

I had a fun-filled week with my brother’s family. I miss them already!
