Good morning RWC!
I want to apologize for the extra emails that got sent out on Friday to your inbox. Substack was having some technical difficulties and I am so sorry.
What a tremendous 10-mile trail run on Saturday. It was muddy. It was hilly. It was a joy! The fresh air, the bright green ferns covering the side of the trail, and the trees protecting us from the rain, challenging but fun!
I was sliding much of the run as the mud was plenty! I was laughing to Felicia about how happy I was to be keeping my balance and staying upright as my foot would slide right then left.
I got this. I'm doing great and mud runs are fun.
My thoughts kept me going as we made our climb up some steep terrain. We were cruising right along chatting, weaving around the mud when I lost my balance. My right foot hit a root or branch and I went down. I landed in the most squishy, soft mud that I could hope for. My knees sunk in as well as my palms. I bounced right back up and laughed it off. It didn't hurt a bit and thankfully I was able to keep right on running. The soft give of the trail was a blessing.
May you find an unexpected blessing today.
Poem of the Day:
Leap- jump over streams Weave, wiggle on narrow trails Duck under prickers Adventure around each turn Squishy sneakers ooze with joy
This reminds me of when I used to take my class to the creek in a small field. There was an abundance of thistles there that we had to get through. My 3 and 4 year olds were so resilient! Most kids would cry at the prickles. But my class just said, "Oochy, Ouchy!" through it all and joyfully got to the other side so we could be in the water!
