Raking Leaves with Friends Raking leaves under Maple her low hanging branches— bare. She remarks, “Thank you for raking, those lousy leaf blowers are distressing.” I nod, delighted to be with Maple. Wild geese call “pay attention, pay attention”. Mary Oliver chimes in— “this is our endless and proper work.” I study the ground, a woolly bear curled up, “please don’t rake me.” I scoop him up—place him under grandma in the bushes. I love this work. I return to Maple. My rake leaning up against her trunk, daddy long legs climbing up. Hello there, my long-legged friend. She smiles at me, “what a great pile to jump in— I’ll watch from up here”. Maple chimes in “I love when children play with me—their laughter makes my day”. I turn to the children—Maple is ready and you have an audience.

Love this! I pick up woolly bears and put them in a safer place also. I don't want them in the driveway or the road.
Beautiful. Definitely made me smile just imagining the whole scene. 💕🍂🍁
