Sunday’s run was at the Erie Canal trail. I love this spot to run, not only does it give me a break from the hills but there is so much to see—trees, water, birds, deer, and sometimes we will spot a beaver or a blue heron.
Felicia and I were on our way back when we spotted a woman on the trail looking at something. She was standing close to the edge of the trail looking down at the water. As I got closer I was curious about what she was so interested in.
As we caught up to her we stopped and I asked “what are you looking it?”
“I think it’s a beaver, what do you think?”
Felicia and I looked down at the water. An enormous brown ball waddled towards the edge of the water. I spotted the tail.
“Yup that’s a beaver! How cool.”
The beaver entered the water and all three of us stood there in silence as we watched the beaver swim across to the other side. I love watching beavers swim, their tails are amazing to watch. Slow and steady the beaver climbed out of the water making his way up the bank. He was so big and cute from a distance.
The woman turned to us “The early bird catches the worm, glad I’m on the trail early to see him this morning.”
We nodded, “That’s why we love running so early, there’s so much we get to see”.
We waved goodbye and began our run again. I smiled to myself.
I love seeing animals, it makes me feel like everything is okay in the world. Everything will be okay.

Poem of the Day:
MORNING ATTITUDE Headspace is troubled Step outside into nature Birdsong fills my ears Morning tune to shift my mood Nature is my medicine
There’s a little pond on the way to Rochester that always has a huge beaver ‘hut’ in the middle of it but never have seen a beaver…they do great work though👍😍
Yay! Beavers are just the sweetest animals. I love it start to see what she was looking at. I can’t tell you how often I’ve been looking at something really cool and people go right past me and don’t even think to stop look or ask.
