This quote I handed out to each member of The Run to Write Club on Monday.
It resonated.
I’ve been overthinking the correctness and quality of my writing. Saying things to myself I wouldn’t say to a friend.
Resistance shows up.
Joy disappears.
I get caught up in comparison, lack, and self-doubt.
It also made me think of running.
I could change the words to— the pace and distance of what you run do not matter, the act of running does.
When I focus too much on my time, pace, and how long I run— I miss out on joy.
What freedom to recognize this!
Don’t get me wrong, I want to write and run well, however, when I put this unnecessary pressure on myself both writing and running suffer.
So today I begin again…writing and running for joy!
How about you? What must you begin again?
P.S. I’m at The Uplifters Live Event with
and will be unplugged until Monday! :) I’ll catch the comments and reconnect with you then. Have a fantastic Friday and weekend.Write together Friday will be closed today. I will be back next Friday 5/24 to host the write together group at 11 am (EST).
I hope to see you then,
Julie
Each moment is a present
We need to be present in it to get the full joy God intended when He gave it.
I don't walk as fast or as far as I used to each day, but the joy is still here.
“Life” astonishes
Yes! The joy of existence
