I noticed something unusual on the trail ahead. Behind the row of evergreen trees, a mysterious green glow emerged. I slowed my pace, curious to know where the light was coming from.
The logical part of me said to keep running, to maintain my pace and routine. Don’t stop; you have a schedule to keep. Yet another voice urged me toward the trees, and my heart raced with curiosity. Who? What?
My sneakers tip-toed over the pine needles as I approached the evergreen trees. An emerald glow was coming from the lower portion of each tree trunk. I stepped closer. My eyes blinked in amazement then grew wide in wonder.
A small wooden door, no more than two feet tall, was the source of the light. I knelt in front of one door mesmerized. My eyes gazed at a polished doorknob no bigger than my fingernail.
Who lives here? I whispered to myself.
As I looked closer, a message was carved above the door frame— Light forever endures.
My fingers rested on the letters. The green brilliance faded. Yet the message remained…
Light forever endures.
I had fun writing this after my run using the prompt from the Move + Write Practice.

Oh gosh, what a beautiful find! Absolutely magical!
Thank you so, so much for a fantastic Write Along - I hadn't made it to the session for so long, and today absolutely felt like coming HOME. Thank you for having me. 😘❤️☺️
The photo of the Highland Forest is so beautiful! I can smell the air and the snow and the trees. I've learned from riding that I can be a hamster-on-a-wheel with the rhythm of my day and can feel committed to the rhythm more than the day's promise. Though you may not read or hear about how your Substack and its consistent encouragement affects others in the very best way, it does! Thanks, Julie!
