Pumpkin Waffles Pumpkin waffles three piled high Celebrating another Saturday long run. Thank you body. Aunt Dier (my inner judge) is sitting across the table. Her squeaky voice interrupts my celebration. You’re going to eat ALL three waffles— Isn’t that a little too much? I politely nod and reply— thank you for noticing but yes, yes, three is the right amount for me today. She crosses her arms over her chest as I open the jar of almond butter. I pick up the knife spreading the delicious nut butter over each waffle. Smooth clumps sit in the nooks of each one. My humming was interrupted by— Don’t overdo it. Almond butter isn’t fat-free ya know. Aunt Dier just can’t keep her mouth shut—she speaks with such confidence, such authority. I smile and take a sip of my bold coffee. Her voice— no longer mine. I slice bananas and berries for added sweetness to my plate. I feel strong, happy, and resilient as Aunt Dier melts away.
I hope this finds you feeling strong, healthy, happy, and resilient.
I'm so glad God gave us food , not just for fuel, but also to ENJOY!!
