O God bless you Julie! My prayers were with you! How amazing it must feel to be on this side of that challenge. You are so precious to me and to many. I just know that God was grinning ear to ear as you crossed that finish line.

Congratulations, Julie B! I used the AccuWeather app to check forecasts for Saturday. I thought of snow dumps! Of smog and smoke from recent brushfires in the vicinity of NYC. Of course Saturday morning on rising I checked again. Now you’ve shared the results of your long-planned run. Brava. Nothing but Brava. What an inspiration you are.

Hi Gary, It was wonderful to see you this morning and write together. :) The weather was crazy Friday and then turned out gorgeous for Saturday's run! We couldn't have asked for a better day. Thank you so much for your support and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Thanks, Julie B. I mentioned your run to several friends and received quizzical brows in return. Followed by, “Why would anyone want to do that??” I suggested endorphins played a role. Competitive athletes get that, white water kayakers, and many others. I’m endlessly proud to know someone of your mental toughness, faith in God, kindness, and generosity. How did Brindsley and Delaney respond? I picture Brindsley with a group of his friends asking, “Do you wanna know what my mom did last Saturday? Ran 50.2 miles in a hyper trail run!” Were Jeff and the children able to get a good view of your efforts? The collage was a good condensation of the overall effort! Here’s wishing you and your family a joyous Thanksgiving.

HA! I can imagine their faces now. A simple reply "Because I can and I want to." LOL. I was sad my family couldn't make it. Jeff was working so they stayed back with my Mom. I wish they were there. I was happy they could watch the live stream and see me cross the finish! Thank you so much Gary and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Hi Charles, I appreciate your message. Thank you so much. It was incredible.

It’s abit beyond me. I damaged a knee training for a half marathon early this year. Next year my eldest daughter is doing 35 mls on Tiree.

Expand full comment

Good morning, Charles, I'm sorry to hear about your knee. Are you still running? I hope you can keep at it if it's something you enjoy. That's amazing about your daughter!! Tiree is an island correct? Will she run around it? Tell me more when you get a chance...I'm so curious. :)

Expand full comment

The Scottish islands host runs of all sorts. Most go up to half marathon. However a couple go beyond that. The outer isles host a 3 island marathon and Tiree has its ultra. 35 mls equals once round the island. Up till I injured my knee(medial cruciate) I would do the 10k. I’m allowed at the moment 5 mins plus 1. The runs and the music festivals bring people to these beautiful empty places. We camp and cycle around exploring and wading in to swim with the seals.

Oh wow! This sounds amazing. I'm putting this on my list. :) Maybe a run vacation for the family. :) Thank you for sharing more with me. And I'm happy to hear you're allowed some time on your feet.
