Good morning Julie Bee! In the sense of developing and maintaining environmental awareness, in my early college days Joni Mitchell sang “Big Yellow Taxi.” One verse in particular stands out in my memory:

“Hey farmer, farmer, put away the DDT now

Give me spots on the apples but leave me the birds and the bees, please”

Published in 1970, 54 years later, many have not gotten the message. How can the lessons be taught effectively, and learned? Science + biology classes that teach about the ecosystem that nearly led to the extinction of Bald Eagles might help. Imagine schools that support dramatic productions having classes write a play about that DDT process then performing it for auditoriums full of fellow students and parents/grownups?! A message of hope for our collective blue dot!

Title: The Future is Now

The future is now

Our senses tell us to Act

Our hearts will respond....

Btw, I have joined "Third Act" an environmental group begun by Bill McKibben for Boomers who want to "do something" on the Climate Front.

If you also believe the "future is now" please Act. ♥️‼️♥️

And thank you for your poem that inspired my response. Great poems take us to the familiar and give us new eyes to view what's important. Well done Jules!

This is a great title too! There's a 3 way tie for Monarch, Now or Never, and A Place to Rest. I like them all. :)

Or perhaps, "Interbeing" the reality that all sentient beings depend upon one another. Or "The Butterfly Effect" ?

I have a mild case of Covid so I have some time on my hands. Sorry for way too many suggestions. LOL.

"The Future is Now" has become a cliche that doesn't move anyone to action. How about "Now or Never" since it is a truly existential moment.

I do like Now or Never, keep them coming Clark. :)

You talk about the people who give you drinks during marathons . What are they called? You are doing that same thing for butterflies. You could title your poem that way.
