I think of a t-shirt I saw at a race expo in Florida.

“I ran a marathon and all I got was a banana.”

🍌🏃‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️💕

When I hear "banana," I think "slug" because I went to UC Santa Cruz, and the banana slug is the school mascot. Keep writing!

Hi Sarah, You're kidding! I almost spit out my coffee. That's so funny...banana slug. I need to look this up now, I'm so curious. Thank you for being here.

Yes, the banana slug has a long, proud, and quirky history at UCSC, a university proud that it has always focused on athletics as being just recreational, not super competitive. The redwood forests around Santa Cruz are filled with beautiful yellow slugs. Go Slugs!

Julie, Julie, bo-bu-Lee, banana fana fo foo Lee.

I “drank” tablespoons of Sesame Seed oil because there was some evidence it might help my platelets. 🤢

Gail! I haven't sang this song since childhood! Thank you for this delightful memory and song this morning.

Oh my goodness, sesame seed oil...I can't imagine the taste on it's own. blah. I hope it helped.

Another incredible chapter, Julie.

Banana makes me think of 'Grampana', which was a dessert invented by my Grandpa (for the days that Grandma hadn't made anything special!). Mashed banana, sugar, and 'top of the milk' - which was basically cream.

I don't know what to say except that I don't like bananas. Used to as child, but not anymore! UGH!

Good morning Faith, Hey, that's okay. We like what we like. Isn't it funny how some things we enjoy in childhood then don't anymore or the other way around.

Banana... 🍌 ...Dad

My Dad had a banana EVERY day!

But one week the store was OUT of bananas! What?? I went to another store. Out of bananas!?? No bananas for my dad 😔.

Couple of days later, my daughter took Dad to his Dr. Appt. She brought him home after, and he was suddenly extremely weak. Going into the house, the phone was ringing. It was the Dr. He had just read Dad's blood work. He told Becky to get Dad to the hospital immediately! Potassium levels were dangerously high.

Dad recovered, praise God!

Hmmmm. 🤨 I wonder what would have happened if the stores had not run out of bananas 🤔 just when I was looking for them?

It may be silly, but I believe it was a God thing.

What a story Claudette! Thank you for sharing. It's funny you mention this. I was talking to Jeff about the banana push yesterday and he mentioned it was probably good he didn't eat bananas bc his kidneys were being taxed by the chemo drugs and too much potassium wouldn't been good (or something along the lines of this)

Not silly at all, sounds like the Great Creator was looking out for your Dad.

This fact-burdened guy says “Germany.” Last I knew, Germany holds first place in banana consumption per capita. This “silly to excess” guy also thought “Loving you has made me bananas.” Sort of the tagline from a late 60’s send up of big band lyrics. Sung by Guy Marks and covered by others since its release. Not a bad companion to Gail’s reply.
