Protective covers for plants in our yard that favor sun and warmth far more than freezing temperatures - 20° without a wind chill tonight. Why? Living things with which I experience connection. Special hydrangeas with a long history. Philodendrons (almost sub-tropical) that respond to that degree of cold by turning to mush. Succulents atop our mailbox.

My experience of life is aligned with Native Americans’ Great Spirit, found in everything. Everything. That keeps me right sized and motivates me to care for “others” right under my nose. In return the plants so enrich my life.

Thanks for asking that question, Julie. I visualized some photos you’ve shared of running trails near you. Easy recall. I tried to visualize you in sneakers plowing thru snow. Mid calf? Knee high? Wearing thick, warm, wool over the calf socks? The warmth from your heart is evident regardless of the socks you wore. 🙏🏽

Thank you Gary for sharing your insight and wisdom. I love this— "plants so enrich my life." I know many readers here will agree.

Ya know, the socks are still ankle length, when the roads get real slushy mid calf work great! :)

Into this world we’re born

Take a long holiday
