Love the shift to enjoying the day rather than a BQ. I am so enjoying reading your first book and getting out for my runs. I feel you (lightly) on my shoulder cheering me on.
“no expectations other than to have fun and finish…to show up.” Applicable to running and writing and baking and, life itself! One day, footstep, word, cake at a time.
Hi Linda! It's so great to have you here and I love that your runs are going well. :) YAY!! I'm definitely cheering you on. I can't wait to hear how your race goes. Thank you so much.
I’ll run in the snow and in the heat but rain sidelines me every time. I am always in awe and wonder of “rain runners”. Glad the back stopped barking. Hope the 2nd half went as well as the first but I guess I should have known you would put us in suspense at least one more day. I salute you “Super Woman”!
Good morning Clark! Yes, I was so happy my back chilled out...just when I think I understand my pain, I don't. LOL. Hang in there...one more day...Full steam ahead. :)
SUCH a great picture - and your writing is so wonderful, Julie, that you've harnessed me with your words and I'm running with you in the rain right now! 🙌
This week on Run to Write is such a gift - a sequel to the climax of 'Staring Down a Dream' right here on Substack. THANK YOU. 😘
You made my day Rebecca! Thank you so much for being here and reading along. I'm so happy to have you running with me! :) Enjoy your day and hope to see you Friday.
I've often found it true in marathons & ultras that the thing you think will be a problem (like your back) turns out not to be -- it's something else. Hence, "expect the unexpected"! Looking forward to part 2.
So glad to see that the race did go on, and you were able to run the first 13.....suspense again until tomorrow. :) A few years ago, my husband and I traveled to Southern Oregon to run a half marathon on the rim road of Crater Lake. It was in August, so the weather the day before was beautiful warm sunshine, and at 5,000 feet elevation, not hot. The next morning greeted us with thunderstorms at the campground below the crater, so we were somewhat concerned about the race start. As we drove up the road to the start line, it started snowing, with lightning and thunder all around us. Luckily the storms passed, and the start of the race was only delayed an hour. I do have to say, I will never drive to a race start without a coat, hat and gloves again, even in the summer.
Oh my!! How wild the weather can be! Thank you so much for sharing Beth. What a story and I'm so happy you were still able run. I hear you. I now carry all gear just in case. :) Hope to see you on Friday to write together if it works for your schedule.

Hi Amie, it sure is. I love this...one cake at a time. :)

I'm finding this to be true as well. HA! It's so funny. Thank you for reading along.

Claudette! It was so tough...yet God was with me for sure especially on the last 13.1 mile loop. I wouldn't be here without Him.
