I’m so excited to watch The Boston Marathon today! A shout-out to my friends Esley, Meridith, and Tonya who are racing! I can’t wait to hear all about it.
What was the most memorable spot of the race for you at The Boston Marathon? Would love to know in the comments below.
A poem I published in Staring Down a Dream: A Mom, a Marathoner, a Mission:
Heartbreak Hill They call it Heartbreak Hill And now I know why It’s perfectly placed in the marathon To make you dig deep— It may even make you weep. The yells and shouts from the crowd Keeps you going and feeling proud Your legs want to slow down but your mind says NO! Let’s Go, don’t stop You’re almost to the top Don’t back down Pump your arms, shorten your stride Lean forward, and enjoy the ride. It will be hard It will be tough You will make it to the top Don't stop! Your dream coming true As you take in the view You feel a pull— It’s your heart not breaking But full.
Book recommendation: Although I am only 1/3 of the way through, if you truly want to live in “awe & wonder” for the rest of your life, read Paul R. Fleischman’s book “Wonder”. I must read it very slowly as his writing style packs much into each sentence. But if you go slowly, it is truly life changing. ( at least for me).
Haiku for you:
Boston is unique
It brings out the best in all
From laughter to tears…..
