Mindfulness Returns Eyes down lost in thought To-do list runs through my mind with each stride. Nature neglected. My sneakers scuff the ground— A rock trips me up, pay attention. Sunshine peeks between the bare limbs of maple and hickory. My posture shifts— head up, eyes alert. The warm glow relaxes my face, and my jaw unclenches. I shake my arms out and breathe. The glorious sun to wake me up— nudge me out of my self-absorption. Mindfulness returns. Squirrel chatters, and blue jay whistles as I run past.

Hello! Yes, I am trying to get back to mindfulness in my running. I miss those times when I'm drifting off in thought, and the running is just happening. You are right Holly, too much time stressing out and not taking care of our selves.
