The Women’s Day event was fantastic! I had the opportunity to read for 5 minutes from my book Staring Down a Dream: A Mom, a Marathoner, a Mission. My heart was racing so fast that I thought it was going to leap out of my chest. I’m not running I’m reading.
I paused and mentioned this to the audience. It created some laughter and helped me relax. My heart continued yet I was able to read with less angst. I did something I’d been scared to do.
I had a chance to meet some amazing women writers and hear their work. It was a wonderful event. One woman came up to me after the reading and asked if I was in charge of The Run to Write Club. Her name was Mary. I was shocked she heard about it and thrilled!
I told her yes and hoped she would join us. She said she might so I gave her one of my business cards to reach out to me with any questions. I asked how she heard about it and she said from another lady.
Word-of-mouth marketing— I’m all for it.
Delight is Found My arms bend Elbows swing back and forth A muddy trail Lies under my feet Grim view Until… I spy a patch of vivid green My legs spring forward brilliant white bells dazzle the gloomy Landscape An angel is near Prime time to change my outlook
Have a magnificent Monday!
Take good care,
Julie
What will you try this week or this month that is outside your comfort zone?
Woo hoo, Julie! You were dope!! (millennial for cool or awesome)
Your choice of Theodore Roosevelt’s remarks was a perfect fit for folks who strive to be their best. In fact, I’m responding to one who’s cut from that cloth!
Something outside my comfort zone this month? A visit to the Wildlife Refuge south of Tallahassee to:
a. Breathe salt air
b. Bird watch, and likely gators, too
c Walk the dikes that separate impoundments of water
Perhaps not “dope” but certainly hope.
All the best to you always, Julie.
So glad to read your poem & message today. I love hearing from you! My husband is coming home from the hospital this afternoon! He had to have a triple bypass!! So glad he is better!
