Woo hoo, Julie! You were dope!! (millennial for cool or awesome)
Your choice of Theodore Roosevelt’s remarks was a perfect fit for folks who strive to be their best. In fact, I’m responding to one who’s cut from that cloth!
Something outside my comfort zone this month? A visit to the Wildlife Refuge south of Tallahassee to:
a. Breathe salt air
b. Bird watch, and likely gators, too
c Walk the dikes that separate impoundments of water
So glad to read your poem & message today. I love hearing from you! My husband is coming home from the hospital this afternoon! He had to have a triple bypass!! So glad he is better!
Love the word of mouth Julie! That's wonderful and good for you facing your fear of reading at the event. I am sure it was wonderful and you inspired others with what you read. I will continue to ask for help. It's always outside my comfort zone. Great question. It reminds me to continue to lean in here.
Thank you Linda! I hear you...asking for help can still be so hard. I'm so happy you have a wonderful group of women to encourage and keep you going. (I met to write that to you yesterday)
Something outside my comfort zone....Learn to say NO more often. I need to create more of a "safe. tranquil zone" around my day to day life and the requests for my time and attention that get thrown at me from all directions. Thanks for this space Julie!
I hear this one Beth. Saying NO can be so difficult. My friend Linda mentioned to me just last week to take more Vitamin N (Vit. No) HA! It made me laugh but it also gave me the courage to look at my week coming up to re-evaluate my "yeses". You are definitely not alone with this. xx
I love this! And congratulations on overcoming your own resistance and your lack of confidence. You are an excellent writer with a powerful story. Share it!
Public speaking is at the top of the list of things most people say they’re afraid of (along with heights, spiders and going to the dentist!), so good for you for having the courage to do it, Julie. Next time will be easier.
Believe it or not, writing for public consumption—i.e. this blog—is high on the list of what pushes my panic buttons. Almost every week I think of giving in to the nasty inner voices of self-doubt and quitting, but then I end up fighting them off and publishing again (with a little tough love from my husband!). It’s another small victory on the way to a bigger goal. Maybe it’s a bit like running a marathon, something I wouldn’t know about as I’ve never done it! Anyway, thanks for the question and for sharing your experience.
Hi Ruth, Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm so happy you don't listen to the resistance and you hit publish. I love receiving your words, kindness, and recipes. Keep going Ruth! We need people like you in the world. xox

Perhaps not “dope” but certainly hope.
All the best to you always, Julie.
This is total dope and certainly hope! I love this Gary. Thank you so much for making me laugh.

You go girlfriend! I don't care what anyone says, public speaking with strangers is tough.
It sure is. I was so happy when I was finished...lol. Thank you so much Beth. I surprised myself and had fun too.

Good morning Cindy, Thank you so much for your encouragement to keep sharing. I needed to hear this. The resistance is real...will keep at it.
I'm rooting for you!
