I get to see great blue herons on my runs. I’m spotting them in places I didn’t last year. I’m truly one lucky runner.
Who are you finding on your runs or walks?
Lift Off (thank you Diane for the title idea) A great blue heron Alert to my footfalls Lifts off from the bank Wings expand with the dawn Steady and bold I nod in appreciation An honor to be in the presence of this mighty bird as he rises with the sun.

You'll have 30 minutes for free writing.
Sharing your work at the end is optional.

We hope to see you there!
Oh Julie. I’m saving this one. Great Blues are my favorite bird!
Found by my lab, Max, on our various urban dog jogs: a plastic Easter egg filled with jellybeans, a magnet letter W (upside down letter M for Max & now on my fridge), used gloves and syringes (ewww), a wooden sign with the word “BEST” in gold glitter, half a tiny bird eggshell.
