When Nathaniel was born I received a book titled: Children Learn What They Live — as a gift.

Over the last 24 years, I have watched that title in action. Mostly good, some not so great, which has offered me opportunities for self-awareness and self-correction.

Show, don’t tell. It seems the greatest method to me.

Thanks for sharing with us Julie!

Good morning Gail! Thank you so much for sharing the book title and your experience. I also resonate with the self-awareness and self-correction...what a gift motherhood has been for those reasons. I love learning from my children as well. Have a great Monday!

P.S. What project are you working on?

I continue to learn as I watch my now *gasp* 24 year old navigate young adulthood. 😃

Project… 🤔

I’m currently working on a book titled — Girl & Dog: Practice Together

When I started yoga a while back, it came as a revelation to me that anything in life can be looked at as practice! How cool is that? There’s no final grade? Only practice. 🤭

The book is a hat tip to the community of yogis who have practiced and grown with me along the way.

Thanks for asking!

You? Do you have a WIP?

Yes! That's very cool. Everything is a practice.

I love the book title. Go Gail! GO!

WIP...Run to Write Club anthology (gather club members work and collaborate works to combine in a book) and I would love to publish my story about the JFK 50 miler.

Thanks, Gail. :)

Aw, Julie, this made me choke up a little. It is so true that the children (and adults) in our lives take lessons from our actions as much as our words. Thank you for being you. xo

Thank you so much, Linda. It was such a great reminder for me and I was happy Brindsley wrote it down. I might need to look at it from time to time. Thank you for being here with me. Keep moving and writing. :) Oh! and acting!

The concept of “show, don’t tell” frequently runs through my mind – it’s a mantra I try to achieve each day, but in reality, it’s much more challenging to accomplish.

I seem to have my greatest success whenever I strip away all of the influences from the world and be myself – unafraid of receiving criticism or trying to achieve things that others expect from me. In these increasingly rare, focused moments, I find inner peace and purpose...and that is like a giant beacon of light shining on the world.

Hi Jack! It's so great to hear from you. I resonate with your words..." more challenging to accomplish." For me, I notice it takes more time, or maybe more deliberate time... to show rather than tell.

I find it easy to just yap away...lol. My kids have taught me that fewer words are often better. :) Thanks again, Jack. I hope you're doing well and having more peaceful moments.

Bobbie is a child engagement specialist at Lafayette Elementary School. She tells me all the time how things that she learned from me at home and especially while working with me at Creative have influenced what she does now ❤️😊❤️

Julie, tears of joy welled up in my eyes. The younger ones emulate our actions and deeds and not hollow sermons. Loved the spirit, my friend.
