Julie, thank you for reminding me of one of my favourite childhood memories with this beautiful poem. I remember watching (on TV) ice dancers Torvill & Dean win gold at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo February 1984. At only-just 9, I was DESPERATE to skate like them, and put 'ice skates' on my Christmas list.

When Christmas arrived many months later I was so excited to be handed a really heavy present. Guess what it was? A TYPEWRITER! I was thrilled, and perhaps relieved that I didn't have to suddenly go off to learn to ice skate...!!! 🤣

I love this message! You made me laugh. Oh I know, wouldn't it be amazing to skate like them! I love watching the ice skaters in the Winter Olympics too. :) But what a great gift..the typewriter!!
