I really like this post! Replete with kindness, caring, compassion, and joy. All possible in the context of community - both family and friends - colored elegantly with hope! A blessing if ever I heard one.
Yes. What a blessing it was for our family. I'm beyond grateful for my friends who showed up and loved us through this difficult challenge. Thank you Khushi for reading and commenting.
It was such an unexpected gift. I'm still amazed as I reflect and process all that happened last year. We are truly blessed. Thank you for reading Rebecca.
Thank you so much Faith. Yes friendships are a blessing and we're grateful we had friends come along side us when some did not. I understand it can be hard for some folks to show up during hard times for whatever reason— thankfully we found a community of kindness and love to lean on.
Hi Claudette, let me know if Kathy and Janelle would be up for reading. I have a friend who wrote a great book that I would love to gift you 2 copies if you think that would be helpful.
Thank you for sharing this. We often don't know what to do for people who have been through chemo or long hospital visits. This is such a gift to all of us from Stacey through you. Perhaps she learned from personal experience or the experience of those in her circle. Unfortunate knowledge remade as a gift. Perhaps @Twinztalk have had this experience. Beautifully written @juliebhughes!
Thank you Linda. What you write is so true...and now we have knowledge to pay it forward. The lollipops were especially enjoyed as Jeff has a sweet tooth. Thank you for reading Linda.
I too received several overflowing baskets and mailings. One contained nausea drops along with coverings for a bald head. ♥️
One of the most amazing gifts I received came from my friend Jack. Everyday for duration of my treatment he posted a funny quip in the comment section of my newsletter. He and his wife harvest humor for the multitude of catalogs they receive.
A favorite quip that he shared was:
I used to be addicted to the Hokey Pokey... Then I turned myself around. 😂
You’re welcome. It truly was my pleasure. As a fellow writer, I suspect you share similar feelings of joy in thinking through and presenting your story so that it might be a light for others.

I tried earlier, but got a notice that it did not go through.

Hi Gail!
I have this page bookmarked in your book Poise. :) What a great idea to include the jokes. They had me smiling and laughing. What a great friend.
I'm so happy to hear you were taken care of and supported.
A bookmarked page in POISE? 😱 thank you for fulfilling an author’s dream!
Cancer surely seems to bring out lots of collateral beauty. (Have you seen that movie?)
I am glad to read that your family feels loved and supported, too!
HA! Yes lots of bookmarked pages in Poise!! :) You're welcome.
I have not seen that movie but thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Thank you so much Gail. Thank you for sharing and publishing your story.
