Hi Julie B. Hughes! I think you’re sharing of how the JFK 50.2 event played out for you is so enjoyable. Vicariously tracing your footsteps! I have a question on the course of the race itself. I’m very fuzzy on how the C & O portion relates to where this competition began?

I looked some more! I thought this event began in NYC (not the regular marathon route of course) but the 2024 course map says, "No, dummy!” Integrating this new information disabuses me of my NYC starting point. 🤷🏽 You can easily see I would have gotten lost in the first 10 minute walk from the parking lot. I’m quite thankful for all your efforts to build a community of followers.

Hi Gary, I'm so sorry...maybe I missed that in the beginning. The race started in Boonsboro, MD. I hope this helps...definitely not in NYC. :)

Thank you for reading along and so great to see you today.

No apologies needed Julie B. Ever. More than likely I’m the one likely to be wearing egg on my face! Sometimes I read too quickly (more like skimming) or blast through posts by favorite creators, creating neuron tangles and memory trace footprints sometimes undecipherable. “Haste makes waste,” I heard growing up. Sure enough! Wishing you the best in this busy time.

Hi Gary! Thank you so much for the reply. :) I hear ya. Oh and sipping on some coffee this morning… What a wonderful surprise. Thank you so much. :) I hope you and Izzie are having some fun adventures.

I’m so glad you received the beans! The shipping info on my end has read “preparing shipment.” For four days, as if it hadn’t budged an inch. 😂

Izzie and I give it “a go” three times a day. Rain or shine, sleet or snow. Not much of those last two, but I know someone who does! She seems to love being out in heavy rain. Perhaps because I towel dry her when we return from wet walks. Two towel walks border on ecstacy. She usually nuzzles against me when I finish.

Have the best day possible, Julie. “All that glitters is not gold.” But sometimes it is. ❄️🏂☃️

I just love your running prayer, Julie. It was the perfect thing for me to read just now. Thank you.

Good morning Mary B! I’m so happy to know it resonated with you. That was my frequent pray during the race when my mind or body was trying to talk me out of it. Thank you for reading.

Meeting absolute strangers and getting some inspiration with a sense of competition in between makes us take steps towards the finish line. Honestly, the notion of the next refreshment point has always been a motivator to me and it always worked. We too are running along with virtually, but enjoying every inch you covered. Great going, Julie.

Always inspiring, both the 50 miler and the writing—a long run against the odds seems like a good metaphor for life. Thanks for another immersive read, Julie.

Wonderful, just wonderful! I love your writing - this series of posts makes me think back to reading your brilliant book ‘Staring Down a Dream’ and how lovely it was to feel carried along on your Boston journey as I turned its pages. This account of your fifty miler is equally fabulous. 🏃🏻‍♀️

I’d love to join you for today’s Write Together but I can’t make it (again!) this time. I’ll be with you in spirit during the hour, though, and hope to get some writing done under my own steam later!

It was a surprise to me, too - I was so delighted to have got home way earlier than I’d expected to, and when I saw that it was only 4.30 I knew exactly what I was going to do!

Thank you so much for having me - it was lovely to see you, and it was super to have the opportunity to work on my latest post in company. x
