What an inspiring poem, Julie! Seeing you and your running buddies with smiles all around is not unlike watching the sun rise.

I like ginger snaps

Molasses cookies are good

I’m outta the woods

I made your molasses granola bars for a road trip to the Grand Canyon and they were a perfect end to the trail run!!

The sounds of the birds, the sound of the rain on the leaves, the puddles I’ll splash through because my shoes and socks and feet are already soaked… that’s what brings me to the woods!

Hi Seth, Thank you so much for sharing and being here with us. "The sound of the rain on the leaves" oh, I love this too.

I got to experience it yesterday - in the middle of a big rain storm while out running! Ooops!

HA! The best kind of rain storm when you're already out there! Awesome and thanks again.

I use to like to go hiking for a few days with my friend. We use to go all the time but both of us have been busy in life and no longer camp or hike. I do go on small hiking trip and camps with my wife but not to longs like with my buddy. I need to get back out in the woods, as I love it. As a kid we use to build forts in the woods!

Hi Al, I do hope you can get out in the woods again and hike. It is the best and yes to forts! :)

Pine “Needles” beckon

An oxymoron for sure

So soft under foot…

Hi Clark, Oh yes the pine needles are glorious! One of my favorite parts of the woods and this trail had several sections of 'needles' under foot. It was awesome. :)

Wishing for a quiet wood somewhere after reading this. I love that there’s hope in everything you write.

Hi Ruth, Thank you so much. I do hope the "hope" comes through in my words...thank you for seeing. :) I hope you can find a quiet wood soon.

I love this poem! Truth about the woods and about life situations. I have two daughters, both struggling through thorny patches. Keep on running past the pain. Thank you for the hope in this poem!
