I have many good memories on Brown Gulf Road!

I was wondering! Not far from you at all. I was so happy my feet took me in that direction. What a peaceful country road.

“What if” haunts me still

Different choices beckon

Now, no time to lose!

Thanks Julia for your beautiful version of the “road not taken”. Yes it can make all the difference.

Hi Julie! I pulled out a small bin of fall decorations and sprinkled them about the house yesterday. 🍁 Changing it up is like giving our attention an espresso. Wake up!

Good morning Gail! I love this idea. And thank you for the nudge to get my decorations out. :)

I have really pared down the kitsch over the years. Just a few items feels like enough for my taste.

Some neighbors do it up big and it looks amazing! I appreciate their creativity, effort, and willingness to share. 🎃

I'm the same. A few items fit our home well. It's fun to see what our folks have on display.

Julie, in light of reading this post today I had a play this afternoon with some Oulipo techniques - I reckon that having fun with a writing 'constraint' absolutely counts as a new direction!

Thank you so much!

Yes! Absolutely counts and I'm curious to know what are "Oulipo" techniques? Hmmm...I always learn something new from you. On to research it... Thank you.

I'd never heard of Oulipo until I first came across Terry Freedman and his 'Experiments in style' posts. https://terryfreedman.substack.com/s/experiments-in-style

The idea is to give yourself a writing constraint - such as writing a paragraph without using the letter 'A', perhaps, or to take something you've already written in the third person and change it to the second person.

Today's fun for me was to write a comment on a post using only phrases I found within that actual post! I had such fun with that 'constraint'!

Ya know, now that you mention Terry I remember reading this or maybe it was you sharing his post? Anyways, thank you! That would be fun and to give it a go with a poem.

LOL - he's got a lot to answer for, has Terry! 😉 Have a play - you'll really enjoy it!
