Hold the mirror up
To deeper understanding
Pause for intention
What's the best thing that happened to you in 2023?
My friend Kathy posted this beautiful question on her conservation blog. I began to make a list of all the amazing things that happened this year. As I stopped to reflect on some of what I wrote— I was astonished. I had let some of the grand experiences in 2023 slip my mind.
Many magnificent things happened— yet the best of 2023 was meeting people in person who guided, inspired, and coached me through the last several years. I was grateful to thank them in person.
Reflection is truly a powerful skill that I’m happy to cultivate. I understand the importance now more than ever— to create a pause allows me to learn from my experiences and notice moments of gratitude.
I hope you get a moment to reflect and pause on 2023.
Thank you for supporting Run to Write and my work this year. It’s been a joy to connect with you and engage in conversation each week. I’ll be back in your inbox in 2024! Have a wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year.
Take good care,
Julie

Hey, I’m not giving up the next week. The best is yet to come. 😀
I had to think about this a while. Not that some good things didn’t happen this year, but I was wondering what would fall in that category of the best. And I finally realized that I have come to a new understanding of myself. I have started to see things that I have always hidden from myself because I didn’t like them, or they didn’t fit in. And finally I’m seeing them and accepting them not just as things I have to work around, but starting to look at them as gifts. Yeah that’s a pretty great thing. Still plenty of room for that to grow in 2024.
