I came across this quote in yesterday’s Marginalean:

Solitude is not chosen, any more than destiny is chosen. Solitude comes to us if we have within us the magic stone that attracts destiny. ~Herman Hesse

Don’t know if that’s truth, but it is fascinating to think about!

Silence is my best friend. I roll around in it, it soothes and comforts and strengthens me, like being "led beside still waters". Love the poem, too, Julie.

Oh silence, I guess I value islands of silence in my day. And then try to be choosy about what sounds I expose myself to, esp news/current affairs type media. Great question Julie!

Love that hat! “Silence” pairs with an old Simon and Garfunkel song The Sounds of Silence. A bit dystopian. Today, silence is welcomed and the mode I prefer as I search for song birds and listen for their songs. As a defensive driver, silence in my car supports my attention-visual and auditory-for the unexpected. Silence is also supportive of Monday morning writing! Hurrah! (In my best inside voice mode)

Thank you Gary! I love the hats too. The neon yellow makes me smile.

The birdsong in the morning has been amazing here. I enjoy that so much. Thank you for sharing your relationship with silence and hope to see you later this morning. :)

I think for me it's peace. Peace is with me big in solitude. But also in the joyful pandemonium of a boisterous classroom.
