This is Clark. April will mark my 77th revolution around our Sun. I am blessed with Sharon, my wife of 52 years, two precious daughters and three awesome grandchildren. My Mom, 💯 and counting willingly re-located from Florida to reside in an assisted living home ten minutes from me in Shaker Heights, Ohio. I get to spend 3 hours with her daily as she continues to trounce me in Scrabble and Jumble Words. The balance of each day is filled with walking/running, yoga, meditation. I began a newsletter to other “grandparents” I call Grand H.O.P.E. (Heal Our Planet Everywhere) where I discuss Climate Change and how each of us can “do something “ to leave our children and grandchildren with a world on the mend.
As I age and lose loved ones, I am constantly reminded that “time” is the stuff our precious lives are made of. I try, sometimes more successfully than others, not to squander “it”.
Jules, “Run to Write” wakes me up, literally and figuratively. It is my five day a week reminder to engage with life with all of my heart, body and Soul. I am so very grateful. Thank You❗️♥️❗️
How amazing you get to spend 3 hours each day playing games with your mom. How wonderful she can be near you. I haven't played scrabble in awile, such a fun game. Have you ever tried the card game Skip-Bo? That is one of our favorites.
I love you that you are leading Grand H.O.P.E. Thank you Clark for being here with me. I'm grateful to know you.
I haven’t introduced myself in quite a while. After nearly 75 years on this Earth, and many “colorful” experiences, my present self narrows the range of who, what, when…
I’m married to my wife, Beth. My only child, Nathan, is a member of the USAF. I live 30+ miles north of the Gulf Coast in North Florida. As it’s been throughout my life, observing, exploring, and enjoying Nature is well served by our home spot. We enjoy our critters: Izzie, our doodle dog, is asleep beside me. Buster, our feral cat adoptee, like Steve Martin, is a wild and crazy guy. Just exited my lap. I enjoy, and follow a number of writers, adventurers, and creators overall on Substack. E.G., Julie B. Hughes. ;-) As always, I’m grateful for your verse and enthusiasm.
It's so great to have you here, Gary. Thank you for sharing a little bit of you and your corner of the world. :) It sounds like a great place to live and I love your critters names Izzie and Buster. Thank you and Hi to Beth.
Hi, I'm Rebecca, and I live in south-east England with my husband Jim, not far from where I grew up and where my fabulous parents still live.
I love the great outdoors, but as a true 'all or nothing' type I'm in a 'nothing' phase for the moment - which will change, I hope, once spring hits! Julie, you continue to inspire me and I WILL be getting back out there.
Turns out that the many hours and days I used to spend walking are now spent writing - which I absolutely love, but it comes at a cost in terms of exercise! I guess I'd hit 'pause' when the weather turned cold and wet after the summer...
It so great to have you here Rebecca! Spring is on it's way. :) I hear you though...the winter months are more of a challenge to get outside. I'm happy to hear you are getting in some good writing in...take some movement snacks in between. HA!
At 72 years old, I am living my first year of being an empty nester with my wonderful husband, John Henson, on the family farm (Carley Farms) in the same house where I was born. I do miss the noise and the craziness, but at the same time, I am enjoying the peace with John. At Creative Environment Day School, where I teach, I get to be with 14 lively three year olds, which is a wonderful blessing every day! God has led me through many hills and valleys, wonderful and terrible and crazy and peaceful adventures. He still does. I know completely that I can completely trust Him with all of me all the time.
I enjoy all the things that You share here, Julie! You remind me of God's goodness, even through the dark places. You honor God with your trust and obedience. Thank you for letting me be a part of it!
Hi Claudette, I had no idea this was your first year as an empty nester. Wow, that must be an adjustment but it sounds like you are doing well. I'm still amazed by your energy as you play and inspire 14, 3 year olds! Claudette, you are amazing. Thank you for being here with me.

Thanks for the Skip-Bo recommendation.
Yes, I am fortunate to have such fun time with my Mom. Truly blessed. And we laugh and sing old Broadway tunes together.
Glad we are running together Jules, at least virtually. 👣🤗👣
