“We worship an invisible G-d and slaughter a visible nature— without realizing that this nature we slaughter is the invisible G-d we worship”.
Science, I believe, understands what humans need to do to mitigate and reverse Climate Change. And there is still time. However, I fear that our inaction on many fronts, is not a scientific problem but a spiritual one. Will human greed win out and leave our descendants to suffer the consequences? It’s time for our religious leaders to take a stand and call for action. ♥️
I agree wholeheartedly, Clark. With the consequences of global warming already occurring, I’m dismayed by the lack of action at the institutional level. Churches and governments. I read yesterday that Big Oil knew as far back as 1957 about adverse consequences of using fossil fuels. I see that as crimes against humanity, yet I know of no filing of charges on humanity’s behalf. If not now, when?
A quote to ponder for sure. Thank you Clark for sharing. Your words are powerful...especially " I fear that our inaction on many fronts, is not a scientific problem but a spiritual one."
Lol as I am reading Clark's post and feeling bad for Nature, a buzzing black and yellow bit of nature came right up to me. I said Hello! Please don't sting me! You belong outside...
Hurrah for the rhododendron, and your trust and patience. Wonderful story!
Thank you so much for yesterday's Write Along. I've been behind on all sorts of things, and so grateful to have the gift of that hour to write in your company. ❤️
Yes Gary. It is well documented that Big oil is no different than Big tobacco. Unfortunately Big Oil’s cover up impacts the Earth and all its inhabitants. The cash register has its place but not when sentient beings suffer. Human beings are capable of rallying to save themselves as they did in both World Wars. But the clock is running out of time. Where are the Lincoln’s, Roosevelt’s and Churchill now? We must learn how to pray and march at the same time. 🙏🏻👣
Clark and Gary.... important conversations and questions to ask. I know so many folks are working hard in their corner of the world and rallying others. Pray and march indeed!
My seeing your rhododendron’s blossoms harkens back to my childhood in NW Pennsylvania. Along with mountain laurel. I am truly glad the urge to purge was thwarted by what I call Great Spirit. Seeing connections in our lives with the workings of God/Spirit as the basis is affirming for me.
Have a delightful long weekend, Julie! In prep for our week end at Beth’s dad’s home, I’ve drawn the short straw (there’s really only one straw) to take Beth’s car for scheduled service. And that conflicts with today’s writing group. Grrr. All the happiness you can muster to you and your precious family.
I too am happy I did dig up this beautiful plant. It's just gorgeous. Thank you for being here and sharing your memories/stories with us. I enjoy reading them.
We will miss you today Gary but come whenever it works for your schedule! :) Have a safe trip. Thanks again!
Cool! Safe travels and sounds amazing. Any Friday your free come join us. :) We meet at 11 am (EST) and write for 60 minutes. Some folks come and go as they please.
A quote to ponder
As each month brings record heat
Human greed continues…
“We worship an invisible G-d and slaughter a visible nature— without realizing that this nature we slaughter is the invisible G-d we worship”.

Good morning Claudette, what a quote to ponder. I hope the buzzing bee made it's way back outside. :)

The rhodie is a beauty, Julie. You're right, God is always working.
Thank you Mary B! And I love "rhodie" for short. :)

This is good. I’m currently waiting to catch a ferry to the Scottish outer isles. But I like this idea
