I too have moments when I struggle with the tortoises in my life. Not all the time. Not every day. And my way isn’t better. I don’t possess the race starter’s air horn. I’m not in charge! When I remember that it’s easier to appreciate those tortoises and occasionally plod along in harmony. Thanks for the gentle nudge, Julie.
Yes! I like “plod along in harmony.” This reminds me of some bridges (older suspension bridges?) that cannot be crossed by soldiers marching in unison. Why? The bridge could collapse from the rhythmic vibrations! Simon and Garfunkel voiced their opinion on the topic of your post:
I went through similar catastrophic moods when my husband was recovering from prostate cancer and a full prostatectomy. Sometimes I was the tortoise, laid back and accepting and at others, a very emotional hare, as if rushing around and having gross expectations would fix everything. Sometimes I was the bossiest nursing sister ever! But he knew, I think, that it was just me, that my love for him was as strong as ever. He knew what an emotional person I was when he asked me to marry him... forty years before his cancer.
Prue, Thank you so much for sharing your experience. This means so much to be, to know you also went through similar moods. Thank you for reading and being here.
I get frustrated too when we are on our way out the door as a class and one of my Littles wants to tie her own shoes...
The whole class has to wait! Or one teacher can take out seven and leave me with that child plus 6 more. But which ones get to go? Sometimes I am the hare!
Jules, thanks for sharing this poignant moment in your story. Love provides the space for healing to happen. Those doctors and nurses that deliver love and respect to their patients along with their meds are the real healers. I believe you need both ...
He sure did! Of course, Aesop fables the The Tortoise and the Hare! Thank you for the reminder Clark. :) I believe you're right, love and respect are healing.
Thank you so much Kym! You have no idea how much that article helped me shift my mindset. Thank you again. xox.
I like the cover too! I think I'm going to stick with the purple even though it's not exactly the color that represents testicular cancer? It's suppose to be light purple.
Love the working cover!
Do you find that in some areas of life you hop and in others you plod? I suspect I’m a mix. A hortise? A tare?
Have a super day!
Thank you for showcasing and uplifting others Julie. I see and appreciate your generosity of spirit. ❤️
This is so clever Gail! Hortise or Tare? HA! Perhaps I am a mix...thank you for question.
Thank you so much reading and being here. I like the cover too...font and colors...may play around with a little more but not too much more. :)
Have a fantastic day!

Thank you for sharing Gary. It's nice to know we are not alone! I'm beginning to learn the plod along in harmony is the way to go. :)
Thanks again Gary.

Slow down you move too fast
You gotta make the morning last
Just tripping down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feeling groovy
I don’t think Jeff would mind feeling groovy!
Great lyrics here! Thank you Gary and cheers to feeling groovy. :)
Love that song! And it's a reminder for today as I nurse a post-surgical dog.
Oh no! I hope you dog is on the mend.
Peanut butter brownies might not be an optimal breakfast, but I have to say, I’m Team Jeff on this one!!
HA! Thank you for the laugh Amie.
Jeff and I are still laughing about this! :)

'Pace it don't race it' is such wise advice - I hadn't heard this phrase before, and love it!
Your working cover design is fantastic. Awesome work!
Isn't it catchy! :) I love it.
Thank you Rebecca. I'm happy with how the cover turned out. Thank goodness for Canva. :)
I really like this too! I can't wait to get your new book. You make my day, Julie! Love you!!
Good morning Faith! Thank you so much for your support and interest. You made my day. :) Enjoy your day and stay warm. :) Love you. xox

Thank you Claudette! I can see that being tricky with your class. You have so much patience Claudette. You are wonderful.
Thank you for being here and the encouragement on the cover.
Aesop understood
The human condition well
His fables endure...

I love the cover too Julie! And as a fellow “hare” I can relate to a certain amount of frustration with the “tortoises “ I live with!
