This reminds me of my old mentor, Frank. He says it's not up to us to change people. God does that. But we all have a story that is uniquely ours. That is what we can offer. God can use that.

Thank you Claudette. Wise words by Frank.

Oh, so good, Julie! Powerful, indeed. I choose the empty - less of me, more of Him, none of me, all of Him. "Laying crowns down at His feet" is a powerful thing. I'm just starting my day and this was such a great thing to read for me. Thank you!

♥♥♥: 'I can let go.

I can choose honest, kind boundaries. I can decide to be a peacemaker. I can listen to my still small voice, instead of the pleaser.

I can only control my actions, responses, and no one else’s.'

Thank you Olga for reading and being here. I love how you wrote that out here again for me to see. I need this reminder even today.

Maybe...unless you've been to that well many times and know better. Then again, it's on me to change no one else. Thank you Richard.

Wow this was a bit different than I’m used to reading from you. It is powerful. I’m imaging a glass hammer shattering on a brick wall.

Thank you Mom. So many perspectives from this poem...I love it!

Glass hammers and empty wells—both powerful images of fragility and emptiness, but also the eternal human struggle to hold onto hope when there sometimes seems more reason to despair.

Lovely poem - I like the meaning that I perceived, which is the empowerment message you went on to write. Indeed...why go to an empty well for water?

Thank you Jack...that's what I was going for though it's neat to see what others take from a poem.

Change your perspective

The view from the balcony

Is clarifying….

How do we get out of ourselves, over ourselves, beyond ourselves so that we can be more constructive than a “glass hammer”. We need the courage to see with new eyes. Cataract surgery lets the light in…

What form of cataract surgery will humanity choose?

Powerful words and a beautiful question Clark. Thank you. Yes, I need to get over myself at times. It's not about me.

We humans forget that G-d is the center of our Universe. Remembering that makes all the difference. Yes?

It is powerfully written and we can choose to see it as 'dispiriting'/ the 'empty well' or the opportunity for filling ourselves up. I choose to see the latter in your writing. Thank you for filling me up today, Julie. xo

Tried to come up with

Haiku to walk with poem

Some days we fall flat

I seem to be walking with a number of people who are becoming aware of people pleasing tendencies. People who are working on the skill of boundary setting. This includes me.

Thank you for sharing your poem.

Glass hammer — Now that’s an image!

Thank you Gail. It's a daily practice for me. Yet I'm grateful I'm aware and eager to learn. The boundary setting is difficult...I want to get better so I can teach my children.

Ahhh! I understand. When N was young I read Susan Cain’s Quiet, so that I might start changing my ways. So that… I might model behaviors if strength for myself and my quiet child.
