Poems are everywhere

We just need to let them in

Yes, just like our friends...

Love “Could You Imagine” Julie.

Seeing the world from another sentient being’s perspective is powerful. An easy lesson that remains so elusive.

Thank you for doing and teaching through your prolific, compelling poetry. You may be seeking the next poem but it seems poems seek you for the lessons you teach...A win/win!

I get excited every time I see a woolly bear or is it wooly bear. LOL. They are so fun to watch and I gently move them off the road so that don't get run over!

Thank you Clark for being a faithful reader and contributor. It's so fun to read your Haikus.

A wooly bear is yet to catch my eyes this fall. What do you want to bet that I see one today? :)

Beautiful! A lovely invitation to slow down and see the world from a very different perspective.

Good morning. Thank you so much Kym for being here. The more unhurried I am the more I see and appreciate. (plus I LOVE this season)

Good morning Julie. I delighted in how you creatively presented the wooly bear’s life by sight and speed! Your description of kneeling down, to view the world from the wooly bear’s position, brought to mind Rick Moranis’ “Honey I Shrunk The Kids” from the 80’s. Viewing from that shrunken-sized body has a few drawbacks...

When I took the step to owning my first 35 mm camera, one of my experiments was to distort perspective by - you guessed it- kneeling down to the wooly bear’s viewing angle. “Honey! I Shrunk Myself!”

May Autumn’s magic follow you today.

Good morning Gary,

Oooh I loved that movie when I was a kid. :) I didn't even think of it when I was writing this poem but now that you mentioned it...remember the ants? Thank you so much and for joining the conversation.

My son was born in 1986 so I saw quite a few “children’s” movies from that time. The Land Before Time. All Dogs Go To Heaven. One of his favorites was The Three Amigos. Eventually he knew all the lines. What viewing appeals to your children?

I remember those movies but I'm not familiar with The Three Amigos. My children love animal movies— Homeward Bound, 101 Dalmatians, Super Buddies...then all summer The Sandlot (I love this movie) so funny. They are excited to start watching Christmas movies. :)

I see your children got a share of your “Let’s get a move on” ways. No doubt some of your contemplative ways as well. Going into big box stores and seeing reindeer running over the leftover witches is shocking. Can’t they do one holiday at a time?!

Three Amigos starred Martin Short, Chevy Chase, and Steve Martin. A reliance on slapstick style humor, bad puns, and overall mayhem made the movie such a joy!

I hear ya! It get a little frustrated then sad that the holidays are all merged together with no space to breathe...to honor one at a time. GRRR...(money for ya) that's my rift for today.

Oh I need to look up that movie! I love all those actors. And must be hilarious. Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation is one of my favorite Christmas movies.

I saw Steve Martin here at FSU just after starting graduate school. One-man show. 1972? I remember him talking about using an electric dog polisher. Then a quip that went like this: “Those French. They’ve got a different word for just about everything.”

Just now I looked up what he’s doing now. Playing a banjo. Very well! One piece was performed with Alison Brown on “Foggy Morning Breaking,” her new single. Notes indicated the other musicians were “some of the most revered faces in acoustic music.” Alison’s a picker among pickers! And Steve is no slouch himself. Joy!

Your words bring back so many memories of things I did years ago. Whenever I was out walking or riding my horse I noticed so many things in nature. If I saw a wooly bear in the wrong place, I would pick it up and put it in a safer place. I loved nature even if I saw a snake, but I never went near them. :)

Good morning Faith, I've been doing the same thing. I see them on the side of the road and move them to the grass or weeds so they don't get run over. They are my favorite to see in the fall. Thank you for sharing your memories with us Faith and I agree about the snake.
