What a fine start to my day! First a very yummy sounding cookie recipe, complete with secrets from The Great Pumpkin for fluffy glazed cookies. Better still was your sharing of a life lesson involving self care, boundaries (family boundaries can be the toughest), and the gift of giving that’s a two way street.

Thanks for all you wrote, Julie!

Thank you Gary so much for your note here. I'm so happy to know it was helpful to the start of your day. The cookies are so light and fluffy! I hope you get a moment to bake them.

Yes, I agree—family boundaries are not easy. I'm still figuring this out yet I'm definitely in a better place— healthy and happy. Thanks again Gary!

Enjoy your day,

Julie

Cookies open doors

But inner work shows the way

Impossible done!

Oh Jules. What a heart touching Haiku and sharing. You inspire beyond words and provide hope to many.

Clark, You're a Haiku Ninja! I don't know how you do it but your poems bring a smile to my face and keep me going. I apppreciate you. Thank you for your kind note as well. I hope this does provide hope for others...sometimes we do need to love others from a distance...and in that distance we get to decide to move closer or not.

Take good care,

Julie

Julia, you are wise beyond your years. An “old soul” teaching by example. Evolving in the best of ways…

For me, cooking is therapy and self-care and happiness and creativity, all baked into one activity. Sometimes the recipient is just myself*--and that’s okay, too!

Good morning Amie,

Thank you and how wonderful to have your quadruped cleanup crew by your side. BTW— I enjoyed the sweet version of the chickpea pancakes. :) Thank you again and your letter is off in the mail today.

“I have changed.”

One of my mentors taught me that: Reinvention is a core competency.

For much of my life I didn’t know that I could change “who I was” or who others expected me to be.

Thank you Julie for sharing your learning AND a recipe with us. (And a baking tip, too!)

The baking soda in the recipe reacts with anything acid (try putting a little bit in a glass and adding a couple of tablespoons of vinegar - it will create an eruption), so I'm assuming the pumpkin puree you are using has something acidic in it.

And yes...cookies make a great impression on just about anyone - share liberally, is what I like to say!

Thank you for this Jack. I'm a little embarassed I didn't remember this from school. Of course, the volcano eruptions. :)

"share liberally" — I LOVE this! :)

It’s takes courage to do the inner work. But you don’t stop there, and what you’re doing for yourself, is a priceless example for your children. I’m honestly impressed by you, your strengths, and generosity. Thank you for sharing Julie!

Good morning Sylvie,

Thank you so much for reading and your kindness. It does take a lot of courage to face ourselves, doesn't it? Motherhood helped me step it up for sure. I hope your morning is off to a great start— in the studio today?

Happy creating,

Julie
