Thanks for your courage and honesty. I know of no one that was born with the instruction manual to have such conversations. Rather, the development of emotional intelligence allows one to “hear” with an open heart, to be open to growing more trusting (of others and ourselves), and the ability to live more in the here and now and respond to present moment challenges. Thank you Gary for reading and your generous reply. The conversations with the children was really the toughest part for me, I would rehearse and rehearse, ruminate of what to share and what not to share. I didn't want them to carry more than they needed for their age. Looking back it went exactly how it was meant to and I do hope it affects them in a positive way moving forward...(post-traumatic growth.)
