Writers that offer messages from the heart naturally attract followers. Even other runners? I “heard” your poem today as if water. Not rapids but more like water flowing over boulders at a slow shutter speed. I find that look of slowed down water relaxing to my soul. Not unlike the reading of your poem today.

I studied the image. A family of four runners, each with sports shoes of different colors (though the runner-mom chose red; just right). The women’s hand gesture? V for victory or a peace sign? A gesture too bold for the guys??

“Peace returns” as the last two words of your poem seems to suggest to me that a Peace Sign was indeed the hand gesture! ✌️

I love what you took from the photo and poem Gary. It's so very cool. Yes, a peace sign but certainly could be victory too! :)

You’ll be relieved to hear I practiced some restraint with my observations! First, the weave of the bricks of the roadway through the park. There are some faults with asphalt.

The exposed aggregate sidewalk where you and your family stood. I started to search for which periods of glaciation paired with which hills or mountains made the material available to build your sidewalks millions of years later?! We can’t leave out the formation of tumbly streams that then smoothed the bits of mountain rock, rounding edges and polishing surfaces smooth. Large scoops of rock placed into a series of ever smaller grate openings yields the “all this size” outcome. The wonders of Great Spirit and help from human ingenuity amazes me. A blue screen from a TV news room next time? (-;

Wow Gary, what fascinating observations from this photo! I love it. Boston is a pretty amazing city. We had a blast and learned so much history on the Duck Tours. LOL

Bird flight amazes

Surrendering to the wind

Designed to inspire?

As I watch birds in flight, evolution speaks to me. Survival may be a first principle but it begs the question: Survival for what evolutionary purpose? Birds in flight inspire. Humans must learn how to inspire as well. Jules, you are certainly doing your part…thank you!

A pond with no ripples!

How peaceful. Divine!

I have a picture on my digital picture frame of our farm pond like that. It always brings me peace when it pops up in my kitchen. I have to stop what I am doing, walk over and put my elbows on the counter, my chin in my hands, and just stare and enjoy the moment.

Your words are like that for me, Julie. A moment of peace to start my day.
