What sounds do you notice?

Thank you Brigitte.
Spring Into Action

Yesterday was the first session of Spring into Action with the Run to Write Club. Our writing prompt was— notice the sounds around you while you’re moving. Then, choose one sound and explore what emotions or memories it evoked.

This prompt inspired today’s poem.

                  Voice of Joy

light footfalls
gain momentum
as the sunshine gives
a mood boost—
an extraordinary friend
is beside me
40 years to be exact
our cadence remains
in sync.
cheers and laughter
are the sounds she
carries.
and my mind returns
to childhood
the swish of our skis
wind at our backs
gravel under our sneakers
i smile
here we are
moving together
with the voice
of joy
