My goal: “Run for life”

6.2 miles each Sunday

Walk/run rest of week

I am healthiest with 60 minutes of walking/ running each day. I sleep better, I think better, I feel better, I keep my promises to myself & others, I am more loving and patient. At 77, exercise is my medicine and plants are my fuel and family and friends are my joy. Climate “work” will be my focus until my last breath.

“6.2” fit the haiku guidelines perfectly, Clark. It also seems your approach to living, with movement and plants as your bedrock, serves you quite well. Sixty minutes awaits?!

Thanks Gary. Yes, we must find our own way thru this life. And yes 60 minutes awaits. I did a 39 minute 10k 43 years ago. Oh how time takes its toll.

While we can’t slow the clock that measures our lifespan, we can work to keep it running smoothly. All the best!

Ah, the black toenails! I was terrified when I got my first one - and then I was proud of it! *giggles*

My goal is to get going on a big project - I'm at last in a position to be tackling it!

Good morning Julie! Oops! I forgot the 🐝… When is the Eisenhower run to be held? 4th of July just bubbled up from my brain.

The map of the run has “one mile at a time” written all over it! The elevation changes, both ascent and descent, must have tree blazes reading “WOW” on every one. When I backpacked I found steep descents were harder on my legs than ascents. One step at a time.

My summer goal? I’ve learned recently from X-Rays that the cartilage in my left knee is playing “Where’s Waldo” with me. Which is how it feels! So I’m working on an alternative form of activity. I used to drive to the Gulf of Mexico beaches near me with friends in my VW bus, oblivious to shark threats. Over time seeing pictures of sharks lined up at the outer sand bar, facing the shore, I’ve reconsidered that activity. Maybe a small drone for reconnaissance before hitting the water? For now, Izzie is my fitness coach since I want her to be outside with me at least three trips a day. She’s doing just fine! ;-)

The JFk 50 miler is in November, training starts now. :) You got it...one mile at a time and one step at a time will be important mantras as I face this run and have fun of course. :)

Enjoy the outdoors with Izzie and keep moving. There is so much truth to "don't use it, you lose it." Happy Monday!
