Come with me

Poem out loud

Good morning,

Thank you for being here and listening in.

              Come with me

Come with me into the woods…
Where the hardwood trees make a tunnel
for us to hide from the noise.
Set down your backpack of
burdens, troubles, responsibilities—
you won’t need to carry them here.

Close your mouth
inhale slowly through your nose
Extend your exhale—
send it out over the dirt ground,
across the forgot-me-nots and
down toward the stream.

Close your eyes
Trust this feeling of rest
Let your breath carry you
to calm waters. Let your mind
Be still.
Come with me into the woods.
