Eager to soar

poem out loud
18

There is something magical when fresh snow covers the trail. This poem is inspired by the recent snowstorm we were thankful for.

                 Eager to Soar

Eager to soar
in simplicity
My sneakers greet
the landscape
frosted with sweet
whiteness. A delicious
treat stretched out
before me. I notice
the Hickory tree
No longer bare
a soft, sugary topping
covers it’s branches
sparkles as the sun
peeks through the clouds
I grin— Impressive
Each stride
Each inhale
and exhale
Brings a rhythm
I can’t explain
All I know is—
I lack nothing
When I meet the trail
