In the woods

Highland Forest Hike

Last Wednesday I celebrated 44 in the woods. It was a glorious hike and the most gorgeous snowfall. Today’s poem out loud is inspired by my time there.

                 Reflection

Congregation of Evergreens
Welcome me
in celebration
Forty-four—
a number to triumph

The forest—
communicates love
as my heart soars
on the wings of a red-tailed hawk
Protection and clarity
are offered
with each step

Snowflakes waltz—
Usher in silence
to renew my mind
a white blanket
to dance upon

I thank
The Great Creator
with each step,
climb, and turn
Rooted in power,
strength, and resilience
Grateful for this day.

What are you grateful for today?
