Mama Runs

Poem Out Loud
19

Good morning!

I’m so happy to be here with another poem out loud. Thank you for listening in.

This poem is written from my children’s point of view, so I thought it would be fun if they read it. Luckily my daughter was all in. Here’s Delaney Hughes—

Mama runs—
She’s up before the sun.
We wonder why
Yet she’s got big dreams
That’s no lie.

She said she ran for 3 hours
This morning—
What!?— that’s kinda
Crazy if you ask us.
— we were playing
with Legos and stuffed
animals, trying hard
not to run amuck.

She’s got big dreams
and tells us to keep
ours front and center.
Don’t listen to the naysayers—
They aren’t in your shoes,
We all take our own path
And we get to choose.

What’s your big dream?
