Run for Clarity

Poem Out Loud
2
          Run for Clarity

Dried cornstalk fields on my right
Rows of scotch pine to my left, the sky
ablaze with pink and red.

Room to breathe—
no longer trapped with
indecision or worry.
I keep running the country roads—
no hurry.

What could be around
the bend? A white-tail deer,
a red fox, or maybe another
runner, like me, seeking mental
clarity.
