         Winter's Hard Love

streams hush
under jagged ice
uneven peace
as the
blue jay
flys across the grey
a streak of joy

winds blow
patience to maple
bare and alive
while
snowflakes
hover with goodness
a bold beauty

snow stirs
builds our endurance
winter's hard love
