              Resilient Mind Runs

I almost canceled

I don’t feel
like running in the rain.
Where is the snow?
It’s almost Christmas.

My excuse maker
on her high-horse
Oh, come down from there
Let’s not forget

I get to run
I get to breathe in
the country air
I get to hear
the streams roar
the soft tap, tap
on my jacket
I get to feel
the drizzle on my
cheeks, face, and
nose.

The rain pokes at
my thoughts
separates the dim view
like a sieve
I laugh.
My resilient mind runs
40 minutes later...

My heart is happy
My soul is at peace
My strength is bright
In this moment
Gratitude wins

——Thank you
